Cost-effective Luxury AND a Great Gift Idea! Noodle & Boo’s Great Skincare Line for Moms is new to this side of the Atlantic but already has generated some great press and an enthusiastic mom following.
Some background on Noodle & Boo: Hollywood stars like Jennifer Garner and Liv Tyler love to ’suds up’ their kids using only the best with Noodle & Boo’s line of ultra-gentle baby soaps and shampoos. But when the company found out that the little ones weren’t the only ones appreciating the products, they created a new line, Glowology, for all those moms who couldn’t resist sampling the products themselves. So. Cute.

After-Glow Gel
An Haute Mama exclusive, Glowology pampers mommies-to-be and new moms with a range of luxurious products that nurture and protect the skin while offering peace of mind that there are no harmful ingredients to the little one-to-be. The mom products have the same gentle ingredients as the children’s line, but in a way that’s definitely all grown up. Soothe your bump each evening with Elasticity Oil – a mama must-have for skin resiliency and restoration. An Haute Mama (and Now! magazine) favorite, the Sugar Mama Honey Scrub, contains gentle exfoliants to buff your way to baby-soft skin. Follow this with The Balm (ideal for pregnancy-related swollen feet and calf cramps!) and you will be transported to a sublime state of bliss!
For moms-to-be and new moms concerned about the after-effects of pregnancy, we recommend the Perfecting Crème which specifically targets stretch marks and the Afterglow Gel, which as its name suggests, will certainly brighten you up once you see the visible effects of firmer and slimmer skin. Just in time for Summer!

Morning sickness - for some it stops as suddenly as it started – but for others it can be a daily struggle for 20 or 30 weeks in what was supposed to be the most ‘blooming’ stage in your life.

Acupressure Swarovski Crystal Bands
I haven’t been able to eat broccoli and spinach since 2005, as both foods bring me right back to that time of quease. I still have strong smell associations many other foods which are immediate reminders of those horrendous 16 weeks of morning, noon and night sickness. Heidi, 32, was consumed by morning sickness for 20 weeks and couldn’t handle the smell of her nearest and dearest: “even the smell of my husband turned my stomach”. For many the pain of childbirth makes mums shudder at the memory but for Jen, 28, it’s the memory of “chronic nausea and the constant feeling of being stuck on an unsteady ship at sea that never reached port.”
The jury is still out on what are the most effective remedies to ‘ease the quease’ but we’ve gathered our top five favourites.
1. Ice-cold ginger-ale
3. Strong milky tea – preferably
Barry’s but it’s likely that
Lyons will work just as well!
4. Sparking Water – very cold – little sips.
5. Sea sick bands or for something a little bit dressier (a little bling may perk you up)
Accupressure preggy bands by
[bump babies]. These little gems work by applying controlled pressure to specific meridian points.
Acupressure itself is based on the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture but without the use of needles or similar instruments. when properly worn applies continuous and gentle pressure on the P6 meridian point, or Nei-Kuan point on each wrist. (They come with exact instructions for the proper location of the P6 point.) Featured in
NOW! magazine, these bands are both fashionable and functional.

A great pair of maternity jeans should be a staple in every haute mama’s wardrobe. Trust me, you will wear them throughout your pregnancy and into those first post-partum weeks as well. What should you look for when buying maternity jeans?
1. Panel: You have two choices at Haute Mama when it comes to the belly panel, and it is definitely a personal preference. Decide if a mid-panel (Paige Premium, Maternal America), or underbelly fit (Maternal America) is most comfortable for you.
2. Cut: Boot-cut and flared jeans are always the most flattering cut on a pregnant woman. The height at the bottom balances out your growing bump. I don’t care how fashionable it is, tapered-leg jeans are never flattering on a pregnant body. Skinny jeans, on the other hand can look great when teamed with pumps, knee boots and a cute tunic top.
3. Stretch: Look for jeans that have spandex or a bit of ‘stretch’ for little extra give that feels oh-so-good.
4. Wash: Dark-wash jeans are a little dressier, whereas jeans with a lighter wash or less streamlined edges are more casual. You also have the option of white jeans – you decide what will work best for you. When in doubt, go for a medium to dark wash jean for their slimming and lengthening properties. Paige Premium’s Laurel Canyons and Maternal America Trouser Jeans always top the polls as the perfect pair to suit every body shape.
5. The right fit: Sit down in your jeans when you are trying them on to ensure they will be comfortable. There is nothing worse than getting through the day in too-tight jeans.

Touring Tote - Mom & Baby Chic!
It’s in the bag. At least that’s what I say. When you’re expecting a new baby, your world is expanding even if the economy isn’t. Of course maternity clothes are a necessity but our biggest seller is that one essential accessory that no woman can resist – and in this case, it’s super-practical. What is this magical thing no new mom can do without? Diaper bags. And not just any diaper bag, the Petunia Pickle Bottom. Based in San Francisco, PPB is known for its exuberant colours and designs. And these delicious bags disguise all those important compartments for wipes, pads, lotions and nappies – into an “I-want-that-bag” kind of fashion statement. I don’t need to tell Irish girls that there is no substitute for a great handbag. And Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags are one of those key must-have accessories for new mommies!
If bold design isn’t really your thing and you’re more of traditional girl at heart then let me introduce you to the Storksak Elizabeth collection. The Elizabeth bag is crafted from washed, toughened leather with brass hardware. This bag is trendy, highly durable and functional – just what you would expect from a great diaper bag.
So, what’s the difference between all of these ‘must-haves’?! Let’s get real. With the expense of a new baby you’ll want a diaper bag that will see you through the newborn and toddler stage and still look great.
The Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpacks - great size for toting around all of the newborn essentials. Very roomy interior with great storage. Inside is fully cleanable. Being hands free is always a bonus when getting used to a new little one, and carrying the bag on your back with baby on your front will keep you nicely balanced! I highly recommend the stroller clips with this bag – they are purchased separately with this particular style of diaper bag.
The Petunia Pickle Bottom Touring Tote – perfect for over an the shoulder diaper bag. So incredibly easy to carry, it has everything you need for going out with baby, but it’s not as roomy as the boxy backpack so while you’ll fit all of the basic essentials, you’ll struggle to fit the ‘what ifs’! It’s great for when little one is a few months old and you don’t feel like carrying the entire contents of baby’s closet around with you! Comes equipped with those great stroller clips I mentioned above.
The Cake Collection – practical decadence! What more can I say? The Society Satchel is huge and will carry everything a new mom needs. It’s a real show-stopper and new moms who’ve been gifted it or indulged themselves have told Haute Mama that they get as many comments about the bag as they do the baby! The Cosmopolitan Carryall is a throwback to 50’s elegance. It’s standalone beauty is matched by it’s functionality. The Cross Clutch is ideal for quick trips out and about with baby. The Cake Collection bags makes for a gorgeous, yet practical investment piece – bet you never imagined hearing that about a diaper bag!
